We personally would be interested in a few more activities for attendees to participate in in addition to the open arcade and tournaments. Now it’s not lost on us that this is a fighting game tournament, but there were some very fun non-gaming events that took place like Karaoke and a cosplay tournament which we a treated to participate in. We think maybe a dance party panel or an ARG (alternate reality game) would’ve been a nice touch for folks who were looking to mingle a bit or ‘to touch grass’.
One of the most remarkable aspects of CEOtaku is the incredible atmosphere of comradery it fosters. From the moment you step through the doors, you're enveloped in a warm and welcoming community of like-minded gamers. It's heartwarming to see people from all walks of life come together to celebrate their shared passion for anime-fighting games. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a casual player, everyone is bound by their love for these games.
The layout of CEOtaku is easy to navigate and follow. With clear signage and well-organized areas for different games and activities, you'll never find yourself lost or confused about where to go next. It's a well-thought-out design that enhances the overall experience, ensuring that you can focus on what matters most: the games and the people. One of the things that truly sets CEOtaku apart is their commitment to safety. The convention goes the extra mile by staffing its own security, creating a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. You can fully immerse yourself in the event without any worries, knowing that the organizers take your well-being seriously. CEOtaku also understands the importance of the little things that make an event memorable. Their inclusion of a message service room is a thoughtful touch, allowing attendees to connect and communicate effectively. It's these small details that demonstrate their dedication to providing the best possible experience for all.
The open arcade at CEOtaku is a real gem. It's a paradise for gamers with a fantastic mix of both interesting and nostalgic games. You can relive your gaming memories with classic titles or discover something new and exciting. It's a great place to unwind and have a blast with fellow attendees. A few of the highlights of CEOtaku were the featured arcade cabinets of Jai-lai Heros: Throwback, which were a major draw for attendees, offering a unique and captivating gaming experience that added a special touch to the convention. Additionally, the maid cafe hosted by Cafe Peko Peko was a real treat offering a cute, exciting, and lovingly chaotic experience overall.
But what truly makes CEOtaku unforgettable are the entertaining matches and the even more entertaining commentators. Whether you're a competitor or a spectator, you'll find yourself on the edge of your seat as you watch incredible battles unfold. The enthusiastic commentators really make you feel like you're part of the matches, adding an extra layer of excitement and engagement to the entire experience.
What about Cost and Accommodations?
CEOtaku is actually a very affordable convention, offering only two badge types: The Spectator badge at $60 for the weekend and The Standard badge at $85 for the weekend. With the Spectator Badge attendees get 24-hour access starting Friday night to the Artist Alley, Vendors, and the full arcade, and Standard badges get Spectator access and the ability to register for tournaments starting at $10 a game. There also was the option for $30 daily wristbands if you only wanted to stop in for the day. But all in all, these prices are perfect for the kind of event CEOtaku is.
As far as hotel accommodations, CEOtaku takes place in the Wyndham Orlando Resort where rooms start at $139 a night. However, this booking information can change depending on when you decide to solidify lodging for your stay at the event. There aren’t a ton of other hotels in the immediate area to stay alternatively, but honestly, that may be for the best Wyndham is going to provide the overall closest and most comfortable stay in the area.
If you’re looking for food, you’ll be happy to know there is a smorgasbord of dining options within comfortable walking distance of the host hotel at various and affordable price points. This also includes places to have a yummy cocktail for all of my 21 and up convention attendees. Parking is convenient if not a bit crowded as it shares a plaza with few other tourist shopping areas, but for those staying at the host hotel, you’ll have some guaranteed parking to look forward to, however I'd note that parking does cost if you stay at the host hotel.
Overall, accommodation for CEOtaku is very reasonable comparable to other conventions within the Orlando, Florida area specifically.
Should You go to CEOtaku?
CEOtaku is a must-attend event for any fan of anime-fighting games or even those mildly interested in the hobby. With its welcoming atmosphere, easy navigation, attention to detail, open arcade, and lively tournaments, it's an anime-fighting game paradise that will leave you with cherished memories and a desire to return year after year. CEOtaku isn't just a convention; it's a family of passionate gamers coming together to celebrate their shared love for these incredible games.
